A nice story, and it's educational, too! This is the first book in the series that I've read to my six year old daughter and she really enjoyed it. We chose it as our first book because we are getting a German Shepherd soon and it grabbed her attention. She learned some tips about puppies and Search-and-Rescue dogs. For us, it was a perfect chapter-a-night bookit held her attention and she looked forward to reading eac. Fostering dogs! I love this book because me (12 going on 13) and my family foster dogs. And the author makes it sound exactly like it is in our house when we are fostering dogs. Only, we don't already own one.Scout is an adorable little German shepherd, with a soft spot for helping people, the Peterson family realizes it will take a special person to adopt little Scout, but who will that person. Rindie June All the Puppy Place books are great and they all have a "feel good" ending. Scout is very good because not only are they looking for a home for a puppy but this puppy has special talents that they can build upon. All of these books are recommended.
