For students of arctic exploration This book appeals to people who have read books on arctic exploration and want day to day details of life under severe conditions. The author uses the actual logs and other contemporary records to reconstruct the two year ordeal of this expedition. The detail and repetition masks the book tedious at times.. "Five Stars" according to FTR. A very detailed book with some excellent descriptions of the people and their way of life.
