"Words from those who REALLY know" according to B. Mann. Who would have the "chops" to write the definitive textbook on Jazz? How about a musician/composer/arranger who played with just about every Jazz great, with some notables being Glenn Miller and Tex Beneke? How about a man who has arranged, composed, and performed with everyone from A (Arturo Toscanini) . Great information, but organization and presentation are lacking I needed this book for an upper division Jazz History class. I am a jazz musician and thankfully have taken a similar class previously, so much of the information is review for me, but I feel that if this book is being used by non-music students, they will often be confused by the readings. The authors o. kindle version is a joke. Amazon Customer Accessing this book on anything but my tablet is like pulling teeth and i regret not buying the paper version. Also it does not format like a kindle version, it is more like a pdf you can view on some kindle apps.
